Meeting Minutes

May 1st, 2007

Location: Lynn Wood Elementary

Time: 7:00 PM

  1. Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by President, Linda Dyer.
  2. Kayla Cardenas from Wedgewood subdivision gave a presentation on what is available to our subdivision for memberships in their neighborhood pool.
  3. President, Linda Dyer, reported there are no current covenant violations. We are working with one homeowner on architectural violation of failure to maintain property. This should be resolved soon. She reported on the defeat of the covenant change to allow storage buildings. Also, the spring newsletter has been distributed. Website maintenance is going very well and the site is being kept current. This year a neighborhood garage sale will be held in the fall, and then a decision will be made on whether to have a spring, fall, or 2 neighborhood garage sales during each year.
  4. Meetings will be held at the Playground during the months of June and July and National Night out will take the place of the regular August meeting.
  5. Acting Vice President, Jim Weir, reported mulch is going in and benches are being cemented in the playground area. We are getting ready for National Night Out the first Tuesday in August.
  6. Treasurer, Jim Weir, reported that Kent Todd is taking over our accounts payable. Jim distributed a list of homeowners with unpaid dues. We now have 7 over $300.00 and he will get our attorney names of these for small claims actions. There is $1,594.08 in the checking account and $25,243.42 in money market account. Interest earned to date is $246.82 at 4.61% rate.
  7. Acting Secretary, Linda Dyer, distributed the Minutes from March 6, 2007 and these were approved as presented. Minutes from the April 17, 2007 special meeting were read. Gene Toni moved we accept, Jana Mather seconded, and minutes were approved.
  8. Tim Mather, Co-chair of beautification, reported Yard of the Month awards would begin in June. Broken Arrow free Dump Day will be held May 5, 2007.
  9. Old Business: Discussion was held on prohibiting signs on subdivision property (particularly that at the intersection of Elm and Pittsburg Place). Gene Toni moved and Jerry Thompson seconded prohibiting signs. Motion Carried. After further discussion, Gene modified his motion to allow 2 exceptions: Official Vandever Trails signs would be allowed, and homes for sale signs would be allowed on the day of open house of the home for sale and must be removed at all other times. Jerry seconded the modification, and the final vote allowed these 2 exceptions.
  10. Questions and Comments from the Floor:
    • Jana Mather asked what the Association could do to prohibit the distribution of Broken Arrow Ledgers in the subdivision. Since this is a citywide distribution, and some residents like receiving the paper, members were encouraged to call and complain to the Ledger about the method of distribution and to take their names off the distribution list.
    • Another concern is the lack of yard maintenance by some residents. This is the time of year when some yards look bad because of spring weather. If these continue to be a problem, letters can be sent to the residents, depending on the condition of the yard. Some of this responsibility must fall to the individual homeowners.
  11. Meeting was adjourned at 7:58 PM.
