Meeting Minutes

November 4th, 2008

  1. Vice-President, Bruce Jones, called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
  2. Bruce reported for the president that we have had vandalism at both the playground and pond. Graffiti was painted on the playground equipment with permanent marker and youths tried to set fire to leaves in the gazebo at the pond. A $200.00 reward has been offered for information that leads to the conviction of those responsible for the playground damage and youths were apprehended in the pond incident. The fountain at the pond is not working, but an electrician has been called and it should be repaired soon. Bruce also reported that additionally there was an arrest report for unauthorized use of debit or credit card in the 1000 block West Quincy.
  3. Jana Mather, treasurer, reported $1,933.34 in checking; $10,016.90 in money market checking; and $6,986.70 in receivables, for total assets of $18,936.94. Interest to date is $210.99.
  4. Linda Dyer, secretary, presented October minutes. Jason Coan moved to approve, Jerry Thompson seconded and minutes approved. Two sheds have been removed and 2 are still pending. Owners of both sheds still standing have been notified and one has indicated the shed will be removed. The other homeowner has not responded to notification of violation. Web use for October was 70.
  5. Tim Mather, Beautification chair, asked all residents to keep a sharp eye for any unusual activity in the neighborhood, especially in light of the recent vandalism at pond and playground. Christmas light contest will again be held in December with the winner receiving $50.00. Flagpole and entrance light still not fixed (pending).
  6. Jason Coan, Neighborhood Relations co-chair reported 4 active listings and 1 pending sale. Average square foot selling price has declined in the past six months. One new homeowner has not yet received their welcome packet. The newsletter will be distributed next week.
  7. Old business - Tom's Electric has been contracted to put up Christmas lighting at the entrance. Lights will be activated the day before or the day after Thanksgiving and will remain until the first of next year. At the end of that time the decorations will belong to the Association and can be reused.
  8. It was suggested that we look into putting a link on our website to the new crime reporting website recently established by the city. After checking to make sure the reporting website is working satisfactorily, this will probably be done.
